BMW Wheel Size, Offset & Fitment Guide

Find the correct aftermarket wheel size, offset and tyre setup for popular BMW M cars and M Lite models. Our recommendations prioritise real-world clearance, road usability and spacer-free fitment wherever possible.

Important:

Wheel fitment can vary with tyre construction, suspension, ride height, alignment and brake package. Every setup should be checked before ordering.

Understanding the numbers

BMW wheel size and offset explained

01

Wheel diameter

The first number, such as 19 in 19x9.5J, is the wheel diameter in inches.

02

Wheel width

The second number, such as 9.5J, is the wheel width. Wider wheels support wider tyres but reduce available clearance.

03

Offset / ET

ET22 means the mounting face sits 22mm from the wheel centreline. A lower ET normally moves the wheel further outward.

04

Square vs staggered

A square setup uses the same wheel and tyre size front and rear. A staggered setup uses wider rear wheels and tyres.

Frequently asked questions

BMW wheel fitment FAQs

Does a lower offset make the wheel sit further out?

Generally yes. With the same width, lowering the ET number moves the wheel outward. Changing width also affects inner and outer clearance.

Do I need spacers with these fitments?

Perfect Fit setups are intended to work without spacers using the stated tyre sizes and a wheel design suited to the vehicle.

Will the same tyre size fit every tyre brand?

No. Tyres with the same nominal size can differ in tread width, shoulder shape and overall section width.

Will these wheels clear my brakes?

Diameter and offset do not guarantee brake clearance. Barrel shape, spoke profile and caliper position must also be checked.

Can I use a staggered setup on xDrive?

Yes, provided front and rear rolling circumferences are kept closely matched using the recommended tyre pairing.
