The best Millway camber plate for an F87 or F8X BMW depends first on which car you actually own, then on how much road refinement you want to keep. The N55 F87 M2 uses a different Millway part from the S55-powered M2 Competition, M2 CS, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4.

Most important fitment rule: 2016-2018 N55 F87 M2 uses Millway 90481-M2 in Street form. F87 M2 Competition/CS, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4 use the 90481-M4 Street family. Do not buy purely from the words “F87” or “F8X”.

BMW F87 M2 N55: Millway 90481-M2

The original F87 M2 is the easy car to get wrong because it shares the F87 chassis code with the M2 Competition but does not use the same Millway Street plate.

Millway specifies the 90481-M2 Street camber plates for the N55-powered F87 M2 built from 2016-2018. Millway lists a 22mm adjustment range, approximately 2.0° additional negative camber compared with the OE position and around 3.0° maximum on a typical setup. The precise final number depends on the suspension package.

The plate is the same height as the factory top mount, works with original suspension and many aftermarket systems, and can accommodate OEM-size or 60mm-type springs when the correct upper spring plate is used.

Who should choose 90481-M2 Street?

For a road-registered N55 M2 that sees track days, this is our default choice. The polyurethane bushings reduce noise compared with a solid Uniball mount while still providing the front camber range that the standard car lacks.

BMW M2 Competition, M2 CS, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4: 90481-M4

The S55 cars use the Millway 90481-M4 Street camber plates. This version is listed by Millway for the F87 M2 Competition and M2 CS, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4.

The adjustment range is 24mm. Millway states that this equates to roughly 2.3° additional negative camber and approximately 3.2° maximum on a typical suspension setup. Again, that is not a guaranteed alignment figure for every car. Ride height, damper shaft position and other hardware change the final result.

What about Uniball?

Millway also offers motorsport-bearing versions. The N55 F87 family includes the 90377-U Uniball plate, while the M2 Competition/M2 CS/F80/F82-F83 family uses the 90467-U Uniball plate.

The Uniball versions use stainless-steel bearings and remove more compliance from the upper mount. They make sense when the car is track biased and maximum feedback matters more than additional road noise.

Early F80 M3 and F82 M4: check the fixing pattern

Some early F8X cars use three M10 top-mount fixings rather than the later five-M8 arrangement. Nineteen72 lists a dedicated pre-2015 F80 M3/F82 M4 Street camber plate for this application.

Do not rely only on registration year. Confirm the physical top-mount arrangement and damper specification before ordering, especially if the suspension has already been changed.

What if you have an M4 GTS?

The F82 M4 GTS has its own Millway adjustable camber plate. Nineteen72's listed GTS plate provides a 30mm adjustment range and stainless-steel motorsport bearings. A GTS should therefore not be treated as a normal F82 Street application.

How much negative camber should you run?

There is no single correct number. A car on road-biased tyres at factory ride height does not need the same setup as a lowered car on 200TW tyres, and neither needs the same setup as a car on slicks with aero.

The useful approach is to start from the car's real use, set a sensible front camber target, then refine it using tyre temperatures and wear. If the outside shoulder is consistently being overloaded on circuit, more front negative camber may be useful. If the inner shoulder is wearing quickly during road mileage, the setup may be too aggressive for the way the car is actually used.

Toe must be reset after camber adjustment

This is the part that gets skipped in too many driveway installations. Moving the strut top changes front toe. Millway's own adjustment instructions say to adjust toe after changing camber because incorrect toe can rapidly damage tyres and make the car unpredictable.

Fit the plates, set ride height, set camber, then set toe. Do not install camber plates and assume the old alignment remains valid.

Installation notes that matter

  • Use the damper nut specified for the suspension kit.
  • Check that the top of an adjustable damper and its adjustment knob clear the engine-bay protection.
  • Confirm the correct upper spring plate for OEM-size or 60mm springs.
  • Set final alignment only after the car is at its finished ride height.
  • Recheck toe every time front camber is materially changed.
