Template Flow FAQ's

Everything you need to know about installing Template Flow, creating reusable templates, managing your subscription and resolving common issues.

Getting Started

What is Template Flow?

Template Flow is a Shopify app designed to help merchants create, organise and reuse templates across their store. It reduces repetitive setup work and makes it easier to maintain consistent page layouts and content.

How do I install Template Flow?

Install Template Flow from the Shopify App Store and approve the requested permissions. Once installed, open the app from your Shopify admin to complete the initial setup.

Do I need any coding experience?

No. Template Flow is designed to be used without coding knowledge. Templates can be created, managed and applied through the app interface.

Will Template Flow work with my Shopify theme?

Template Flow is designed to work with modern Shopify themes, including Online Store 2.0 themes. Some heavily customised or older themes may require additional configuration.

Does installing Template Flow change my live store immediately?

No. Installing the app does not automatically replace your existing pages or templates. Changes are only applied when you choose to publish or assign a template.

Can I test Template Flow before publishing changes?

Yes. We recommend previewing your template and checking it on both desktop and mobile before applying it to your live store.

Creating and Managing Templates

How do I create a new template?

Open Template Flow from your Shopify admin and select the option to create a new template. Choose the relevant template type, add your content or sections, give the template a clear name and save it.

What can I use templates for?

Templates can help you create consistent layouts for areas such as product pages, collections, landing pages and other supported Shopify content.

Available options may depend on your Shopify theme and Template Flow plan.

Can I duplicate an existing template?

Yes. Duplicating a template is useful when you want to create a similar layout without starting again. You can copy the template, rename it and make changes independently.

Can I edit a template after creating it?

Yes. Open the template from your Template Flow dashboard, make the required changes and save it. Review the changes carefully before publishing them to your live store.

How should I name my templates?

Use clear and descriptive names that explain the template’s purpose. For example:

  • Standard Product Page
  • Genuine Parts Product Page
  • Summer Sale Landing Page
  • Track Parts Collection Page

A consistent naming system makes templates easier to manage as your store grows.

Can I assign one template to multiple products or pages?

Yes. Where supported, the same template can be assigned to multiple products, collections or pages. This helps maintain a consistent layout across similar content.

Will editing a shared template affect every page using it?

It may. When several pages use the same template, changes to the shared template can appear across every assigned page.

Preview your changes and confirm which pages use the template before publishing major updates.

Can I remove a template?

Yes, but you should first check whether the template is assigned to any live content. Reassign affected products or pages to another template before deleting it.

Can I restore a deleted template?

Deleted templates may not always be recoverable. We recommend duplicating important templates before making major changes or deleting anything.

Billing and Subscriptions

Is Template Flow a free app?

Template Flow may offer different plans depending on the features, usage limits and support required. Current pricing and plan information will be displayed within the app or its Shopify App Store listing.

How am I charged?

Template Flow subscriptions are normally billed through your Shopify account. Charges will appear alongside your other Shopify app charges.

Can I change my subscription plan?

Yes. You can upgrade or change your plan from the billing or subscription area within Template Flow.

What happens if I downgrade my plan?

Some features or usage allowances may become unavailable after downgrading. Existing templates may remain visible, but certain editing, publishing or management features could be restricted depending on the selected plan.

Review the plan details before confirming a downgrade.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel by uninstalling Template Flow from your Shopify admin or by following the cancellation options available within the app.

Before uninstalling, review any active templates and confirm how removing the app may affect your store.

Will uninstalling Template Flow remove my templates?

Uninstalling the app may remove access to templates and app-managed data. We recommend reviewing your templates and saving any important information before uninstalling.

Do you offer refunds?

Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances, billing period and applicable Shopify app billing rules. Contact Template Flow support with your store details and the relevant charge information so the request can be reviewed.

Troubleshooting

Why is my template not appearing?

Check that:

  • The template has been saved.
  • The template has been assigned to the correct product, collection or page.
  • Your changes have been published.
  • You are viewing the correct theme.
  • Your browser is not showing a cached version of the page.

You can also try refreshing the Shopify theme editor and opening the page in a private browser window.

Why are my changes not showing on the live store?

The changes may still be saved as a draft, assigned to a different theme or attached to another template.

Confirm that you edited the published theme and that the correct template is assigned to the page you are viewing.

Why does the template look different on mobile?

Theme sections can behave differently across desktop and mobile devices. Check the section’s mobile settings, image dimensions, text spacing and alignment options in the Shopify theme editor.

Always preview templates on multiple screen sizes before publishing.

Why is a section missing from my template?

The section may not be supported by your current theme, may have been removed from the theme code or may only be available within a specific template type.

Try adding the section through the Shopify theme editor. If it is not available, contact support with your theme name and the section you are trying to use.

Why can’t I edit a template?

Confirm that you have the required Shopify staff permissions. You may need permission to manage apps, themes, products or online store content.

If you are using a collaborator or staff account, ask the store owner to review your permissions.

Can another Shopify app conflict with Template Flow?

In some cases, apps that modify product templates, theme sections, page layouts or theme code may conflict with one another.

Temporarily disable the affected app feature where possible and test again. Do not uninstall essential apps or remove theme code without creating a backup first.

What should I do before contacting support?

Please provide:

  • Your Shopify store URL.
  • Your theme name.
  • The affected template name.
  • The product, collection or page where the issue appears.
  • Screenshots or a screen recording.
  • A description of what you expected to happen.
  • Any error message you received.

This information will help the support team investigate the issue more quickly.
