Shop Track Day Parts by Experience Level
Whether you’re booking your first track day or building a more focused circuit car, the right upgrades depend on how often you drive on track and how hard the car is being used. We’ve grouped our key track day parts by experience level to help you choose the right setup.
First Track Day Essentials
If you’re preparing for your first few track days, focus on reliability, braking confidence and basic preparation. You don’t need to heavily modify the car straight away, but fresh fluids, suitable brake pads and essential safety items can make a big difference.
Intermediate Track Day Drivers
If you’re attending track days more regularly, your car will need parts that can cope with repeated hard use. Braking, suspension and alignment upgrades become more important as pace increases and sessions become more demanding.

Track Day & Motorsport Parts FAQs
Find quick answers to the questions we get asked most often.
What should I upgrade before my first track day?
For your first track day, you don’t need to completely transform the car straight away. The best place to start is with the basics: brakes, fluids and making sure the car is properly serviced before you go.
A good first setup would be [high-temperature brake fluid], suitable fast road or entry-level track brake pads, fresh engine oil and a genearal check over of tyres, coolant, brake condition and service items. Popular options include Motul RBF600, Motul RBF660, Pagid brake pads, Endless brake pads and Genuine BMW service parts.
That gives you a much more confident and reliable day without spending money on parts you may not need yet.
Do I need track brake pads for a track day?
Not always, especially if it’s your first time out and you’re taking it steady. A good fast road pad can be enough for light track use.
If you’re planning to push the car harder, stay out for longer sessions or book more track days in the future, proper track-focused pads are a very worthwhile upgrade.
They’re designed to cope with more heat and repeated heavy braking, which helps reduce fade and gives you a more consistent pedal throughout the day.
What brake fluid is best for track use?
For track use, we’d recommend upgrading to a high-temperature brake fluid such as Motul RBF600, RBF660 or RBF700. Standard brake fluid can struggle when the brakes get really hot, which can lead to a soft pedal or brake fade.
A good performance brake fluid is one of the best value upgrades you can make before a track day, especially if you’re still on standard fluid.
Are braided brake lines worth it for track days?
Yes, they’re a sensible upgrade, especially if you’re already fitting better pads and fluid. HEL braided brake lines help give a firmer, more consistent pedal by reducing flex in the brake hoses under pressure.
They won’t completely transform the car on their own, but as part of a proper brake setup they make the pedal feel more direct and give you more confidence when braking hard.
For a strong track day brake package, we’d usually look at Pagid brake pads, Endless brake pads, Motul brake fluid and HEL brake lines together.
What suspension upgrades are best for a track car?
It depends how far you want to go with the car. For occasional track days and fast road use, lowering springs or road-focused coilovers can make the car feel sharper and more controlled.
For more regular track use, adjustable coilovers, camber plates, upgraded bushes and geometry parts become much more useful because they allow the car to be set up properly. Brands such as Nitron, BC Racing, Eibach, Millway and Suspension Secrets are popular choices depending on budget and how focused you want the car to be.
Do I need different wheels and tyres for track use?
You don’t need a separate wheel and tyre setup for your first track day, but it’s definitely worth considering if you start going regularly.
Lightweight wheels can improve the way the car feels, while track-focused tyres or semi-slicks can give a big step up in grip. A separate track wheel setup also means you’re not destroying your road tyres every time you go on circuit.
For BMW track day builds, popular upgrades include lightweight alloy wheels, wheel stud and nut kits, semi-slick tyres and suitable brake clearance for larger braking setups.
What is a track-focused road car?
A track-focused road car sits between a normal fast road car and a dedicated race car. It is still usable on the road, but has carefully chosen upgrades to make it more capable and consistent on circuit.
Common upgrades include coilovers, performance brake pads, uprated brake fluid, lightweight wheels, bucket seats, harnesses, cooling upgrades and geometry changes. The goal is to make the car sharper, safer and more confidence-inspiring without making it horrible to drive day to day.
Brands such as Nitron, BC Racing, Pagid, Endless, Motul, HEL, Millway, Tillett and KMP are often used for this type of build.
Can I still use track day parts on the road?
Some track day parts are perfectly fine for road use, but others come with compromises.
Things like Motul brake fluid, HEL braided lines, many coilover kits, service parts and lightweight wheels are commonly used on road cars. More aggressive brake pads, semi-slick tyres, bucket seats and harnesses can be less comfortable day to day, so it’s worth choosing parts that match how you actually use the car.
If your car is mainly used on the road with the odd track day, we’d usually recommend a balanced setup rather than going straight for the most aggressive parts.
What are the best upgrades for regular track day use?
For regular track days, we’d usually start with brakes and fluids first. Track-focused brake pads, high-temperature brake fluid, braided brake lines and good discs will make the biggest difference to confidence and consistency.
After that, suspension, geometry, wheels and tyres are the next big areas to look at. Brands such as Nitron, BC Racing, Eibach, Millway and Suspension Secrets are popular for improving handling, while Pagid, Endless, Motul and HEL are strong choices for braking upgrades.
Once the car is being pushed harder, cooling upgrades and driver support parts such as bucket seats can also make a big difference.
