When used heavily, these discs can degrade quickly and the surface of them becomes rough and can even crack and chip. Once critically damaged, the discs must be replaced as their bonded construction makes them impossible to repair.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn comparison, Surface Transforms (ST) carbon ceramic discs are machined from perpendicular sheets of weaved carbon-ceramic . This layering means the discs are far tougher and more able to withstand repeated heavy brake applications.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen the outer layer of the ST disc becomes worn, the disc can be resurfaced up to 3 times.
